The pulley on the new alternator is different than the old one. Do you think the belt may be for the original alternator and not this new one. If this is the case and I get a new belt that fits the new alternator will it not just start making that god awful noise on the other pulleys?

Belts are supposed to fit only so far down into the pulleys. If they sit to low they'll squeal like a stuck pig. It would be best to change the pulley back the one on the old alternator. If you get a different belt it may not ride right on the other pulleys. It may start comming off on ya.
