Just a thought, You may want to consider using your 305 heads on the 283, Depending on the heads, they could be very similar cc and have better valves and seat for unleaded.
My son (spray-bomb)is currently doing that for his 283. His 305 heads are 58cc with 1.84/1.50 valves. His 283 heads were 60 cc with 1.74/1.50 valves.
I think the 283 is the perfect "driver" engine for our old pickups.
I am curious to see how yours works with the 700R4.
What gears do you have?
