I've done the battery charger deal on a number of parts - also some marine manifolds - it takes longer than "hocus pokus" but it does work. I also had to stop a few times and wire brush a bit so it knocked time off how long it would have taken. It didn't remove paint (as there was no rust under it) - I rinsed the parts and then wiped down with laquer thinner - primed and painted - going on 3 years, no rust came through so..... I just used an inexpensive charger (best way to desribe it, 6 and 12v charger - charge and jump settings as well as regular and deep cell. Didn't hurt anything but I was REAL cautious with the water and electrical.
