Considering a T-56 for my C-10
I've been really kicking around the idea of stepping up to 6 gears recently. My truck 4 speed is getting pretty tired and rather than pour money into it I think it would be better spent in something that I would feel comfortable getting on the interstate with. I can travel I-5 in my truck now, but at nearly 4 grand on the tach, and with an assfull of seat cover. I have my truck with a friend now getting her rear end rebuilt and posi'd, and changing the ratio from 4.11's to 3.73's.
I emailed Keisler Engineering's tech line last night and they told me I can get one of their "Perfect Fit" T-56's that will bolt up with a bit more flexibility on shifter position. Has anyone on the board installed a T-56? In the email they sent to me, I was told that the farthest forward I could put the shifter was 14 inches to the rear of the bellhousing. Without actually having access to my truck now, and with my buddy working on my truck away for a week on vacation, how far does this put me away from the stock shifter location of my truck 4 speed? Do you think that I would be able to clear my stock bench seat in 2nd, 4th, and 6th gears? Any information anyone has is greatly appreciated.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience, well......that comes from bad judgment.
1968 Chevy C-10 "Longshot": Bought used from my Uncle George in 1994 and proceeding to beat the hell out of it for 4 years. Sold it. Bought it back, dumped an ungodly amount of money into it since then.
