I did this several years ago so I've probably missed something but you get the idea.

Use a seperate piece of lite weight metal to mount the gauges in, lining them up with the holes. (used my bezel as a template) You won't be using the old gauge parts at all. Mount the metal from behind the dash. make sure to cut out so that your light and wiper switches will clear and put holes for the bezel screws to clear. You may need some nylon spacers to get the guages flush with the bezel.
The main pain in the butt is getting your turn signal indicators to work with out the circuit board. A couple of pre wired blub sockets should do the trick. And save the little card board tubes as well as the green lenses

I think it's a little more difficult way to go but worth the effort. The gauges run about $500 new from Autometer. If I was to do it over I'd use a tach on the left, large speedo on the right and fuel gauge in center.
