The springs really don't do much other than hold the hood open. They don't have any bearing on the adjustment.....unless the hinges are really loose, they can then but they are not supposed to.
To lower the hood simply loosen the rear bolts on the hinges and push upward on the front of the hood.....I know, it sounds backward, but it works. You are rotating the hinge back, which lowers it.
Never loosen all of the bolts at the same time, you will lose everything

10-4...that sounds logical to me. Im going to try that out and let you know. my springs are tight so im pretty sure they are doing their job.
