The easiest way to gauge your maximum filter size would be to hold a piece of string on the centre of your carb and swing it around, shortening it until it clears everything, then measure and double it to get the maximum diameter allowing a little clearance for engine movement .

My V8 is in the I6 position so clearance is a little tighter than if it was in the normal V8 position. I guess I could have moved the coil and fitted a larger filter, but as I said I got the top and bottom plates cheap from a K&N stand at a show.
