It won't work for a couple of reasons, one you can do something about though. For one jeffspower is correct about the pitman shaft being different for the 4x4 than the 2x4. So you cannot use the 2x4 gear. However if you find or purchase a 4x4 gear, you will still have to dent the frame to bolt it on and if I remember correctly you still will have to shim the gear out because the 67/68 chassis doesn't vave the dimples for the steering gears that the 69 and lator do.
