I'm kinda in the same boat madder. If you can get to them try to see if there are any part numbers or trade names raised in the casting. I know McGaughey's uses "Classic Drop" in theirs and I'm pretty sure DJM puts their mark on theirs.
Other than that a drop spindle just looks like a drop spindle. the stub is higher in the casting than a stock one and will appear to be in the center or even favor the upper ball joint a little.

that's the best I got for with out seeing them. Good luck.
