Re: alt. bracket problems
Sorry, but I don't have any pictures.
When my son & I pulled the 292 and put a 350 in my '69 (was his @ the time), we took the alternator bracket set up off a '76 GMC/350.
The "slider" is a big bracket that bolts to the water pump and intake manifold.
The "pivot" bracket bolts to the water pump and to the cylinder head. The bolt to the head is about 6"-6 12" long and goes through a VERY long spacer.
It was a direct bolt on and has caused no problems in the last, oooooh, maybe 10 years, or so.
I also need to add that this moves the alternator to the right (passenger side) of the engine.
When I need a new belt I either take the # off the old 1, or specify "'76 GMC, with a 350."
Never a problem getting a replacement belt, or with the adjustment. The bolt on the "slider" is just about the middle of the slot.
I hope that helped you a little bit.
Enjoy what's left of your weekend.
El Jay
