Re: 66 slammed hearse
I am going bald over this thing, I started to tie up any loose ends tonite for the cruize tomarrow, the burban is sitting there idling away, when all of the sudden, no oil pressure. The lifters start ticking louder and louder, nothing on the gauge. So I kill it and start checking the simple things, like is there oil in it, yep its full and clean. I fire it back up and it has nothing. I kill it again and then restart it, bam oil pressure. It sits there and runs for a couple minutes and all of the sudden, no oil pressure again. What the hell? Oil pumps either work or they dont right? when it has pressure, its pretty good, right at the first mark at idle and gets higher with throttle. When it has none, it has none, buried on the pin at zero and the lifters start ticking, so I know its not the gauge. Anyone got any idea? I am going to tear into it again in the morning while all my buds go cruize. I am going to start by changing the canister type filter to a spin on style, then drop the oil and see what I can see in it and the pan. I am planning on changing the oil pump unless I find something really obvious in the oil. Who knows what I could find, its the engine out of Drag & Destroy, I'm sure its as trashed as the rest of the truck. Depending the outcome of all this work, I hope to change the intake to a edelbrock torker tomarrow as well.
