Single wall tend to be more desirable because of the lighter weight and the fact that they can be installed/removed without removing the inner "bed" panels. With a double wall you have to remove the panel in order to get to the bolts that go up into the top.

As far as what came on what, it was dependant on the year model. IIRC double walls were the only option when Blazers were introduced in 69. Sometime around the end of the 71 model (some stories I hear say it started late 71, some say 72) the single wall came out. My 72 has holes punched in the bed rails for both the single and double wall from the factory. I'm not sure of the exact weight difference. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Also, single wall have the dome light, double do not.
