I assume you have a 3 speed. I'm not too hip on those but I know on the truck 4 speeds I have had that 1st gear was non syncronized and shifting into first while moving wasnt an option. Somebody with more knowledge of 3 speeds might be more able to help but I think your trying to do something thats not really possible.
