Here is what I suggest... Go to the nearest truckstop and buy a rubber mud flap. Bring it home and cut a couple of narrow strips to place between the tank ears and your frame rails. Lower your tank and place 1 strip between each tank ear and the frame and remount the tank. If possible prebend the straps befor you mount them back under the truck with the tank in place, then tighten the bolts. If the tank is buckling under the pressure then you are tightening it too much and just back the bolts off a little. The rubber will absorb the vibrations of daily driving and also act as a brake so that the tank won't slip forward or back under your truck. Remember you are only holding the tank in place and there is no need to over torque the bolts. The tank itself has grooves in it that the straps lay in.
