Think you are onto something, Piston.
However - It's been a lot colder here in the past than it is now.
I dunno.
The gear is new. Don't think it is the striker because it doesn't happen consistently. Seems like if it was in the wrong place it would happen all the time.
I'll hope for an early spring.
While we're on the subject, has anyone ever enlarged the slots in the striker plates. The doors don't close as flush as I would like them to, and they are adjusted in as far as they can go.
