If you have leaf springs they arenīt really important.
Imagine this: You are driving down the road just cruisin at about 45 and the left trail arm decides to snap in half or release itself from the frame.
The Axle will slip to the rear of the truck throwing you and your truck in to a spin towards the right side of the road.
Donīt try to steer in the other direction though, by the time you react you will already be in the ditch or the parked cars.
I donīt know what they cost new or used but if you think they are bad any price is right if you need to keep driving the truck.
