All carbs. have chokes unless they are strictly for raceing or are in a multiple carb settup with progressive linkage. The automatic chokes are heated to release the choke as the engine warms up. Some draw heat from the manifold useing vacuum. Some have the bimetal sping in the manifold with a link to the carb. Most anymore use an electrical heated choke. This is the simpliest way to go when changing things around & works the best.
