The control unit is held in place by two screws under the edge of the dash and isn't hard to remove. Just be careful of the wire to the switch. It makes it a lot easier. If you take it slow on the clips you can usually save them and re-use them. I completely remove the cables, otherwise it is hard to get the oil to flow down into them.
