You can't go wrong with a good 'ol TH400 or TH350 unless you MUST have an overdrive. An automatic is a super simple install. Drill a few holes for a nice shifter, slap in a B&M shift kit and you'll be snappin necks in no time. Piecing together and installing factory manual hardware could be a nightmare. Your way off on the stall BTW, 4000 is just plain crazy. I only run a 3000 with a transbrake! You'll want a 2500 at the most on the street. You wont see any better performance with anything taller... just make a bunch of noise and burn gas.
