any 4x mechanics ran into this question?

I do truly believe there is no seperate washer and that the nut draws up against the bearing itself. The Jeeps I have worked on through the years use a hardened thrust washer up against the bearing and soft hex nuts. The new nuts are rather tight as well. I filed the roots of the threads to help and the new nuts now fit tight but not as extreme as at first.


While we're on the subject, how many different methods of bearing load setting can we come up with??
I usualy turn em up to tight and then back off to the very first hole in the lock ring.
