you may need to use a flap disk or wire wheel to uncover the spots.
in the '64-'56'-66 they are part of the rear cab mounts and seem to add some rigidity to the back wall of the cab....
My thinking on my is to just cut off the front portion that sticks out for the tank to sit on.

not sure about the '60-'63 cabs
