This is what my buddy was told by Viair when he sent his compressors back on warranty. "Any position is fine, upright, sideways, upside down, but don't mount the compressor lower than the air tank. Mounting the compressor lower than the tank allows water to drain back into the pump, the water will cause the cylinder to corrode & shorten the life of the compressor." Sounds possible to me when I think about it. I will be mounting my compressors lower than my tanks, but I will be running water traps off my leader hoses lower than my pumps, then run line up to my tanks.
