Well, it's tough not to judge a book by it's cover when you are throwing money at it. That being said, $1,000 absolute tops, it looks ugly. As a truck guy, I understand that there is A LOT more value there, but man, it's ugly right now. If it was mine, and I was looking for down payment money, I would do one of two things:
1) part that sucker out and walk away with two or three times the money.
2) Spend one weekend and put all those extra parts on the truck. A multi-colored truck with very solid parts has WAY more value to me than a rust bucket with some parts laying in the bed that I have to put on.

The good thing about option 2 is that if you don't sell it, you are that much further ahead on your project.
