a gauge would be good, but I suppose not necessary. You can use pipe fittings and nipples, etc. from a hardware store to plumb it. You can put a T on the end of a nipple and that will give you spots for two airlines.
It is an upright, correct? Never had an upright, but I know lots of guys who leave them on the shipping pallets. I'd probably get real worried about it falling over and eventually bolt it down though.
Here is a link to sears that will show you some examples of fittings and quick connects, don't have to buy them there though, lots of folks sell them. Lowes or homie despot will probably have everything you need too.
