That was probably me. It was fairly simple, but the wires are really tiny.
I used this from GM-trucks.com to fix mine:

Good news!! Easy fix! Removed the steering column shroud and there's an orange cased pair of wires that come out of the base of the shift lever and head down behind the dash. About 2 inches from where they emerge from the shift lever they were cleanly broken off. Almost looks like they may have gotten pinched in the mechanism that allows the shift lever to move front to back. So, easy splice and I'm back in Tow/Haul mode!

I think I had to pop the dash face off (putting the shift lever in "1st" makes getting the dash face off easier, but I'm not 100% sure that taking it off is even necessary), then take the cover off of the steering column (I think you may need to move the tilt around to get it manuvered off, and I think there's screws underneath that need to be taken out) and move the shift boot. I think I may have unhooked the shift lever as well. I stripped the wires and twisted/taped them back together. I wish I had use heat shrink instead. My wires were cleanly snapped off like this fella describes. I aplogoze for the lack of detail, but it's been at least 2 years since I fixed mine.
It's common for the wires to be broken, but it's also a possibility you have a bad switch or a blown fuse as well. You'll know for 100% when you see the wires. It doesn't take very long to get it apart & back together. I had mine fixed in about 45 minutes. Again, sorry, but I don't know which fuse or where the switch is located, I've just read that those are possibilities as well.
