I know exactly what your saying...... I needed a small coupler to temporally clamp my mufflers on. The manager says all I need is a straight piece of pipe in 2.5. He claimed it would be a slip fit over my old 2.25 pipe. Wrong.
I stopped back by the next day and they made me another set of expanded pipe (slip fit). He asked for the other two 5in pieces he sold me earlier! I told the guy, I didn't know you are selling this stuff by the gram. I'll gladly return them for a refund the next day.
You know they would throw them in the scrap pile.
