Yep, the aftermarket oil pressure senders are big and will not fit directly to the manifold without some stand off/adapter. I have used straight, 45 and 90* fittings based on my clearance. I have pointed them sideway to the block and pointing more at the #1 cylinder.

On my new engine, it has a port above the oil filter, so I think I may use that this time around.

Use whatever means you need to. Never understood why the aftermarket senders are so big compared to OEM (newer model one, not the pre '73).
