I assume you are talking about the gear box itself, which bolts to the frame.
The aftermarket gear boxes like AGR are way overpriced.
Yes you can reseal the box. I have not done it but those who have said it is not a bad job to do.
If you get a rebuilt box (or rebuild it yourself properly) and make sure to use PS fluid not ATF, then it should not leak with 33's or 44's.
