After sitting awhile lifters get gum(varnish) on them. And will stick.

Change the oil then replace a quart or two of oil with tranny fluid(or Marvel Mystery oil) then run it for awhile.

This should fix the issue.

I have done this many times with great success.

Few years ago i bought a 67 Mercury Cougar. It had sat for 33 years not running. Motor was stuck. I MEAN STUCK. Took me 2 months to get it really turning over. Took the carb off, dumped tranny fluid strait down the intake. Let it soak.

Finally got it running. Did exactly like i told you to do. NO issues.

Unless you think your valves may need adjusted. Then its a different issue.
