The difference in the tilt vs non tilt is in the turn signal cancelling cam. On the tilt there is a spring that goes up into the cancelling cam. If you try to put an adapter on with the cancelling cam from a non tilt column there is not enough room for the spring which stops the adapter from going on.

We ordered the tilt adapter for my son's Burb and it fits great.
