Sounds familiar. Kinda like the old SM 420 4 speed transmissions. I sent a few to the melting pot myself and then in later years wished I had one for a Jeep project (the off road people love the old box because of it's extreme low 1st gear) . I then picked up 5 of em including a Military Surplus NOS that I have in my CJ 5.
I wish I could save everything, but that is what got me where I am and now it's all going...............for sale or otherwise.

I passed up a few chances for eaton axles once and then returned and some Truck Puller grabbed every one in sight for the extreme low gears.
