I guess if the electronic ones are expensive, and you still have to run wiring to the dash...........along with the within 2 miles idea.............don't see this to be any advantage.

If you think about the price of a new cable with or without a new housing, and how long they will last under normal use.............don't see any advantage for the normal user. Street rods that want a clean look, yes.
