I use a cable wire wrapped in a rubber coating and I have looped the ends using swedges. I run it through the top, under, in the hood holes that you normally would use to install hood ornament nuts. I grab the ends and shut the hood. Then I wrap the cables around what ever I can get them under and over, then I lock them together. The cable is 4 feet long. I'm doing almost the same thing but mine is approximately 3' long in total so that it's harder to reach and see. I only lock it at night or in bad areas. I also use a disconnect on my battery before locking the hood...in the 'hood.
