For the fleetside, you're pushing the mind's eye by going horizontal on the taillights. The vertical lines on the end of the bed are pretty strong. If you're going to shave those, you should consider taking out the "eyebrow" line as well, or the eye is going to be drawn to that, wondering what's missing.
The Caddy bullets are too "early '60s" for the truck lines. How about something simple like some early Camaro taillights with the angled end on the inside edge? This would give you a vertical reference that lines up with the tailgate edge, and still throw in some "angle" to frame a center license plate (I'm ASSuming you're going to use a rolled pan instead of a bumper... or else this is going to get messy).
