My bet is the 00 is not large enough for the amperage the starter is pulling. If it is a high compression motor you may be surprized how many amps it pulls. Get a meter and check the voltage at the starter while cranking. If it drops below ten volts your gonna have problems. Also do you have the ground run up to the block with 00 also. If not that could be the problem. Do the voltage drop test and do what ever you have to to get the voltage up while cranking
