I was thinking the same thing. terrible thought, but I'd rather be prepared. I don't think a separate lock is a good idea, could potentially take too long to try to get it open. and if there is a fire, you might not be able to reach and unlock the thing without getting burned.
same with locking hood pins, they are not legal by most racing regs because of the safety issues.
