The distributor stamping pad tells what the compression ratio was, accessories the engine had and where the block was cast. I thought the compression ratio might help in determining between 230 or 250. It seems to me the TA designation was St. Louis. I'll keep looking for the info that breaks those numbers down. Did you look at the piston tops as is referred to in the other post? That would tell you for certain. It is always possible the original paint was covered over as well. The parts for the 230 and 250 are interchangable.
