All the GM small block rods are forged. The 'almost' exception is the powered metal rods. That process doesn't actually qualify as a true forging, but it isn't cast either. I though you found some super cheepie crazy imported cast rod was why I asked.
As you were already cautioned, don't even think about boost or nitrous with hypereutectic pistons. The will turn back to sand in the blink of an eye under detonation.
I've ran cast 350 cranks to 7600rpm in a 400-425HP nitrous boosted small block, using GM X rods w/ ARP bolts. Went through nearly 400 pounds of nitrous on that poor little motor. Then sold it to a guy who is still racing it in a shoebox Nova. The cast crank is an incredibilly durable piece IF the assembly is balanced an oiled properly.
oh... IMO, whomever is telling you they can get a 20% increase on a set of GM stock heads with porting,, is being a little optimistic. Maybe in a very very well developed cnc program. But the cost would be waranted only in a class that dictated a stock casting,, again just IMO
