That stuff looks interesting. I would like to see some high res pictures of the finish after polishing is done.
Years ago when I stated painting you could get single stage urethane paint called fulthane-2k I think it was dupont product. (not sure). It was cheap like $40 to $50 a gallon plus cost of reducer and activator. Anyways, that stuff was very durable for everyday drivers and hard to get overspray problems because it would stay tacky enough to blend even when got back to where you started with the paint gun. That paint would run like CRAZY if you tried to paint it like acrylic or lacquer. If you sprayed many thin layers it worked great. If could be sanded and polished too.
I totally understand you not wanting to spend tons of cash on the paint supplies. I have read about guys getting 5-7K
quotes for paint jobs on daily drivers. Wow please keep us posted on this $80 paint job.
