You can trim the front horns before. You'll need to unless you remove the inner fenders, grille, and radiator support from the front clip. I did the same as everyone, 1/2" back from the front of the steering box and I have about 1/4" of clearance between the front of the (cut) frame and the grille supports of a chevy grille.
