while double checking isnt a bad idea its really not necessary to check the pattern with prussian blue or good old white lead on a simple carrier change. Your'e not modifying the pinion depth in any way by changing the differential assembly so your pattern isnt going to change.
Its the backlash that will be affected in such a change and you will need a dial indicator with some means of mounting it such as a mag base in order to check and adjust the backlash.
