I wouldn't buy anything for that much that had structural pieces removed (like the rocker/torsion boxes) -

That is one the first things I check - 2nd is the windshield frame

Does he still have the boxes since he removed them? You could always have them welded back in - but that will cost some $ on top of the purchase price.
