You probably have a spring issue, cracked leaves or just over-all sagging. A closer inspection should help you. Junkyard springs may be a bit "hit or miss" though. You could end up higher on the low side....
Just an FYI... Shocks do not support any weight, they have no bearing upon the ride height of the vehicle. They are there to dampen/slow the natural bounce of the springs.
