Re: What flywheel should i use?

My memory is a little fuzzy here since it's been a few years since I did my engine build but here is what I did. My truck had the original 11" or 12" flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. I also had a weak starter that I did not plan on reusing. In order to save some weight and make things safer I went back with a lightened '70 model Corvette flywheel. I bought a 10" clutch and pressure plate to match from Ram and installed a universal gear reduction drive starter. The flywheel was forged or whatever but the main thing being that it was designed for the higher revs of a modified engine and it must have weighed half of the stock flywheel so it should free up a few HP and be safer compared to the stock one. I think the flywheel was around 168 teeth but I could be off by a few either way. It took some time to get the starter shimmed just right but it works great.

I'll look back through my records and see if I can find something more definitive.
