if i were you id wait till its convenient and yank the motor and go through everything. it would be worth it and the inline sixes are pretty simple and easy to work with. if you are going to have the head off, your already about half way there as far as tearing it apart goes, why not pull it so you can clean everything up and paint it up nice and replace your seals. just my opinion
