Installed remote start on 2006

Hey all. I have been wanting to add remote start to my 06 Silverado before winter sets in since I have to park in the driveway.

I am not a big fan of overly complex aftermarket alarms and such, so I did some research and asked around and ended up with a AutoPage C3-RS-603 remote start and the compatible idatalink bypass module.

I am very pleased with the results. I installed it myself after planning it out for a few days. I am a service tech at a dealer, so I had access to all the schematics and since I wanted a very clean install I made most of my connections using new gm terminals rather than t taps. Anywere I did not use a terminal was soldered and heat shrinked or taped. The modules were neatly and discretly installed rather than just shoved in with a wad of wires. I also chose to retain my factory remotes. 3 presses of the unlock button starts it up.
I know the Autopage remotes have much more range and features, but for now I am sticking with the factory look.

The best part of the idatalink is it only required two wires to be hooked up, with no cutting of the passlock wires. It connects to the violet wire of the Data connector under the dash, has one wire going to the accy 1 wire that the RS powers up, and it uses a included datalink cable to connect to the RS unit. The idatalink module comes in a few different forms that can control securitybypass/heated seats/memory/defrost/etc. if you have those factory options. Does it all on the serial data line to my understanding.

Now I plan to pick up a Autopage keyless/security/remote start unit for my uncle's 93 silverado that comes to me some day. It has power locks, but no keyless and no kind of anti theft.
