For anyone that cares. I had to remove the steering input shaft from the steering box to pull out the exhaust manifold. It looks to me that you'd have to remove the shaft to change the spark plugs on that side.

I changed 3 plugs, so now I'll have to look at changing the 3 on the passenger side. Doesn't look like very much fun.
