Thanks, Fred. Their info says my casting #3769717 is a 59-62 261. I am going to see if it will run & if it runs decent i'm going to do the head gasket.
If this engine turns out to be a dud, does the later 60-70's v-8 pickup bellhousing bolt up to this trans? Crossmember & mount work would be no problem for me. The GMC radiator appears to be in good shape & bigger than the one in pickups. I would think it could cool a sb 400 as I have a good one to use. I have two pairs of ram horn manifolds, one set is straight dump & the other is angled back dump. Does one of these styles work well for this conversion?
