don't worry about the heads...

as stated, if you can see between the water pump and the timing chain cover then it's a long pump, almost touching then short.

I'd take it off (you have to anyway) and go to the parts store. They will have them both in stock for about $25 or so. The main concern is that the pulley mount is the same height as the original... if you lay it falt on the counter that is...

Easy fix but you will need a large drain pan to catch antifreeze and then another bottle to fill it up again. Be sure to mark which holes the bolts came out of, inspect your belts since you have to take them off anyway.
