I'm gonna guess you need the newer style box. My 68 is a factory BBC truck and it came with that kind. I haven't seen a 68 BBC with the ram type.
I'm pretty sure the only 68 trucks that had the ram were early 68's, maybe GM needed to clear out some leftover 67 parts.
